I checked your demo websites and is the same, you have to tap on the right of the menu (the arrow) to expand it. Will be great to make it expandable when the entire submenu is clicked/tapped not just the arrow.

The culprit was a plugin. Once that one is deactivated, the Customizer works fine.
The plugin which is causing this issue is WP Dark Mode.

Your theme has 7 widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.
You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customiser to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.
