I have added Featured Images to my blog posts in the past. Currently I am not able to add or change featured images on posts. The “Featured Image” option appears on the right side of the editing page for posts, has an arrow for drop down, but when I click the arrow, the area under Featured Image is completely blank.

What can I do to resolve this issue and have the option to add featured images to my blog posts once again?

    Hi,

There could be several reasons why you’re not able to add or change featured images on your blog posts. Here are a few things you can try:

Check if your WordPress version is up to date: Make sure your WordPress core and theme are up to date. If you’re using an outdated version of WordPress or your theme, it could cause conflicts with the featured image functionality.

Disable plugins: Sometimes, plugins can interfere with the featured image functionality. Try disabling any plugins you recently installed or updated and see if the issue persists.

Clear cache and cookies: Clearing your cache and cookies can help resolve issues related to website functionality.

Use a different browser: Try using a different browser to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the browser you’re using could be causing the issue.

If none of these solutions works, please provide us with your website URL and we’ll take a closer look.

    Kind Regards

    Dear Evelien,

In order to assist we need to check your website from the back end, please install this 3rd party plugin “Temporary Login Without Password Plugin” which allows us to access your dashboard without sharing access details.

To better understand how the plugin works, please watch the video guide below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMu0e78OpJo

    Hi Evelien,

Based on the information provided, it is possible that one of the active third-party plugins on your website is causing the issue with the featured image option. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Disable all third-party plugins and check if the issue persists. If the issue goes away, enable the plugins one-by-one until you find the one causing the problem.

If disabling the plugins does not solve the issue, switch to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-One and check if the issue persists. If the issue goes away, it is possible that your current theme is causing the problem.

If none of the above steps solves the issue, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
    • Check if there are any JavaScript errors in the browser console.
    • Increase the PHP memory limit and WordPress memory limit.

Additionally, we suggest installing our theme on a test server or a fresh WordPress installation, for example, at tastewp.com. This will help you ensure that the issue is not caused by the theme itself and that everything works fine.

    Kind Regards
