When I created a blog post in Japanese, the excerpt length was not truncated and instead the entire post was shown. I did this for a Japanese only blog (latayori.com) but repeated the same problem in jonathanfish.com. The english posts never showed this problem, but the Japanese post does. Is there an issue counting “words” instead of characters? Any suggestions? I tried putting in spaces but that didn’t seem to work.
Hi Jonathan,
Please temporarily activate Wp default theme Twenty Twenty and check the except, let us know the result you’ll get.
Kind Regards
I changed to the default twenty twenty theme, but the blog pages just show each entry completely and in reverse chronological order. There is not excerpt shown and no option that I can find in the customization menu.
Note that I can use the “read more” feature to force a cut off. This is a work-around as it creates an undesirable step that I have to do for every entry. I will note that at times I had trouble even getting the “read more” feature to work but after toggling a couple of times the “read more” feature seems to work now.
Hi Jonathan,
Sorry for the late reply, we were off for a while.
So it means that the issue related to the Japanese language and not themes, on Wp.org you can find the polyglot channel and ask them to check for the issue.
Kind Regards
