Is there a way to add alt text to the avatar images in the comments section?
It shows a warning notice when checked for missing alt attribute

    Hi Cynthia,

    Thank you for your question.

The avatar images shown in the comments section are generated by WordPress (via Gravatar), not by the theme itself. Because of this, there is no theme option to manually add or modify the alt text for those avatar images.

The markup for comment avatars is controlled by WordPress core, and any adjustments to the alt attribute would require custom development (for example, using a custom function to filter the avatar output).

Unfortunately, this cannot be changed through Ashe theme settings.

    Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to answer!  I appreciate your thorough explanation.  I knew they were the Google or WordPress profile avatars, but I had hoped there might be some way to place a permanent “commenter avatar” alt text on all of them in the comment section to avoid getting those warnings.  It is odd to me that the comment section has an empty alt text, but no way to fill it in, but I do understand that is not part of the theme.

Btw, I do love the Bard theme!  It is such an improvement over my original theme.

    Have a great day!

Thank you for your kind words and feedback regarding the Bard theme.

Since WordPress core functionality dynamically generates these avatars, there is no option within the theme settings to modify their attributes globally. Implementing a permanent alt text for all commenters would require custom coding or a specific third-party plugin designed for comment section management.

We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the theme. Please let us know if you have any other questions in the future.

    Kind Regards
